Abstract

The Laura G. (Levy) Jackson Scrapbook was compiled by Jackson during her time as a Barnard undergraduate and after graduation as an alumna.  Material in the scrapbook consists mainly of examinations and clippings related to Barnard.  The scrapbook has been conserved.

Description

Laura Jackson compiled her scrapbook during her time as an undergraduate at Barnard and afterwards as an alumna.  The scrapbook is narrowly focused on Barnard, with no personal annotations or letters.  The scrapbook contains a detailed record of her exam results, beginning with entrance exam materials and continuing through final examinations during her senior year.  Highlights include a grammar-oriented 1890 English exam and the questions from Mrs. Jackson’s entrance exam.  The scrapbook continues past Mrs. Jackson’s graduation, containing invitations from the college to alumnae events and articles from various newspapers about Barnard.  The last section of the scrapbook contains articles about Barnard from Mrs. Jackson’s days as a student.  The scrapbook is conserved, and contains the original binding.

The scrapbook is arranged in a bound volume, by topic and chronologically within each topic.  A complete microfilm copy of the scrapbook is available.
